Lake Frederick is a bit different than most lake communities because the state of Virginia actually owns the lake. That is good for residents because they don’t have to pay for the upkeep of the lake, but it does mean that because the land immediately surrounding the lake is Virginia property there are no true waterfront homes.
There is a mulch walking trail that is slated to be installed around the entire lake in the summer of 2016 so you can enjoy views of the lake even if you can’t have your home right on the water.
